Your scented escape has concluded with your loving memory inspired candle. You must pack your bags and go home. But - you get to take home a souvenir! Let your container discover the afterlife by removing your candle wax, getting rid of the label, and trying new ways to repurpose your jar with this guide!

HOW TO GET WAX OUT OF A CANDLE JAR?

Don't let pesky wax get in the way of reusing your beautiful vessel. Try one of our easy methods to quickly removing your clean soy wax from your candle jars.

Be sure for safety's sake to follow these warnings before doing any of the below.

FOR SAFETY'S SAKE:

Don't overheat the glass

Do not put any solid or liquid wax down the sink as this will clog your drains

Do not use a microwave as many wicks are set with a metal clip at the bottom and can cause a fire

Careful not to break the glass

FIVE WAYS TO REMOVE CANDLE WAX FROM THE CONTAINER:

1. FREEZE:

Freeze your old burn babies. Try placing your candle in the freezer for a few hours to remove the wax. This method is best for candles at the end of their life, with only about an inch of wax left. Since wax shrinks when it freezes (unlike water) it allows the wax to separate from the edge of the jar. This makes it extra easy to pop out with a knife. If the wax isn’t coming out, try keeping it a little bit longer and try again. Otherwise, use one of our other three methods below.

2. DOUBLE BROILER METHOD:

The double boiler method works best for softer wax candles like soy or coconut. This is due to their low melting point. However, this is not ideal if you want to keep the label on your candle as it will cause water damage. Place your candle into a large empty pot or bowl and pour the hot water into the container around the candle. Once the wax begins to soften around the edges, you can pop out the wax with a knife.

3. BOILING WATER:

This method is better for those who want to maintain the integrity of the label. You can use boiling water to remove the wax. Make sure to protect the surface you set your candle down on. You can use paper or bath towels to make sure not to leave heat damage or avoid water spills and residue. Pour the boiling water into the container. You will see the wax begin to melt and rise to the surface. Once the water has cooled and the wax has hardened again, remove the wax and pour the water out.

4. OVEN:

Perfect for pairs, use this method when you have more than one candle to repurpose. Preheat your oven to 150-200°F. Place your candle(s) upside down on a sheet of aluminum foil on a baking pan. You can set the candle in the oven for about 12-15 minutes while staying in sight. Carefully remove the pan from the oven and using an oven mitt, take your vessels off of the pan. Pro Tip: Don't overcrowd the pan or it will cause the wax to overflow from the pan and drip inside your oven. (If this happens, use an ice cube to freeze off the wax and cut out in chips).

5. HEAT GUN:

Masters and DIY-ers only. If you have one, you can use a heat gun to remove any old wax stubborn or not from your container. Be careful and be sure not to wear any rubber or plastic gloves as they can melt on your hand from the heat. If you have less than 1/4 inch of candle wax left, you can keep the candle right-side up and melt the wax. Make sure it is on a safe surface and one where the heat will not damage it. When it is liquefied, you can just use a paper towel to remove the excess. If you have more than 1/4 inch of wax left, you can use a sheet of aluminum foil on a baking pan, turning the candle over, and using the gun until the wax has melted. If there is a lot of wax left, make sure to do this in stages and not let the glass overheat, as it may break.

Once you have successfully melted and removed your wax, you can wipe it out with a paper towel while the glass is still warm. Make sure you have removed your wick. For any stubborn residue, you can moisten your paper towel with hot warm water and a dab of dish soap to wash off the wax.

HOW TO REMOVE LABELS FROM CANDLE JARS

We won't be offended if you rip off our label. Just make sure you follow this guide and do it right. Try one of these four ways to remove your stickers from your scented candles:

Try using a hairdryer to heat the edges of the label and loosen the grip of the sticker glue from the glass. While the sticker is warm, try peeling from the edges. If the label starts to break in half or if any residue remains. Stop and try one of the other options below.

Submerge your candle in a sink or pot of hot water and dish soap. Keep it here for at least 10 minutes. If the label isn't loose, wait some more or This should take care of your label but if not, you can add a tablespoon of white vinegar if needed.

Grab a large pot that you can submerge your candle holder in fully. Fill the pot with water and baking soda or liquid dish soap. Place your pot on the stove bringing the water to simmer and allow it to steep. The label should dissolve off the glass on its own.

If residue remains, try scrubbing with baking soda.

Was it love at first light? Great! Now let's get to know each other a little better. Here is your ultimate guide to properly burning your candles. We will teach you all of the basics as well as things you didn't even think there was to know about candles. Need to troubleshoot? Have an issue burning your candle all the way through? Or finding ways to make your beauty burn longer? Get ready because we are going to break it all down with this guide and give you some bright ideas.

CANDLE 101: GUIDE TO BURNING YOUR CANDLE PROPERLY

Dedicated flame lovers may already know this but to make sure your candle burns evenly, you want to follow these 3 basic candle principles: trim, center, and wait.

1. TRIMMING YOUR WICK

Do you like burning money? Didn't think so. Do yourself a favor and trim your wick 1/8" inch before each burn. You can use a wick trimmer or even a pair of scissors. This will ensure that your candle burns a little longer and safer. We hand cut each candle wick before delivery so your first burn should be ok but make sure to keep it cut after, if it gets too long. Optimal wick length should be under a centimeter. It is helpful to do this before you light your candle as you don't want the debris to fall into the wax when it is lit.

2. CENTER YOUR WICK

Making sure your wick is centered will allow for frictionless fragrance throw. You can do this quickly before each burn by gently guiding the wick back into place towards the center of the candle. Keeping your candle wick centered ensures that your candle will burn evenly throughout and not burn more on one side. This is important because if your wick gets too long or out of place, it could cause the glass to heat too quickly on one side and crack.

3. RELAX AND WAIT UNTIL YOUR CANDLE IS FULLY MELTED

ATTENTION BURN BABIES! This is the MOST critical step. The first time you burn your candle make sure to wait at least 3-4 hours or until the wax pool liquefies to the edge of your glass. Once the wax pool is completely melted on the top, then you can blow out your candle.

Why is this the most important step you ask? Because if you blow out a candle too quickly, the wax has "memory" and will stay in this position for the length of your burn. Freaky, right?

Once your candle has this memory ring, it will continue to tunnel downwards throughout the life of the candle. A good rule of thumb is to burn the candle one hour for every inch of diameter of the vessel.

FOR SAFETY'S SAKE REMINDERS:

Get lit without getting burned. Here are a few helpful safety reminders to making the most of your burn.

DON'T BURN NEXT TO KIDS, PETS, FLAMMABLES OR SOME HUSBANDS OR WIVES

If your partner is like mine, she will want to spontaneously start cleaning around or near my new candle. That is why it is important to not leave an open flame near any children or pets who may be at risk of harming themselves or others. Burn your candles on a non-flammable surface where they are in sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended. It helps to keep it away from a draft so that the flame does not risk carrying and helps to burn more evenly.

STORING YOUR CANDLE

Because you purchased a beautiful clean candle made with all-natural waxes, free of dyes and additives, our candles can be a little bit sensitive. Temperature and light can affect the appearance of candles due to the natural wax and fragrance oils. Be sure to store in a cool, dry place away from any direct sunlight. A cupboard is perfect or in a dark room or closet. It is always good to keep the candle in its original box and with the lid on to protect it from discoloration, fading, and collecting dust.

KNOW WHEN TO SAY GOODBYE & STOP BEFORE YOU GET BURNED

We know our wonderful scents can transport you to a dreamy vacation, but after a few hours, you will need to come back to reality. We recommend to not burn your candle for more than 4-5 hours. You can extinguish your candle simply by blowing it out or using a bell snuffer (yes - if you didn't already know or have them, there are candle accessories out there!) You can also use the lid to extinguish your flame by preventing oxygen to fuel it.

Wait an additional 2 hours before you begin to burn again as this gives the wax time to cool and will prolong your burn time.

STOP BURNING WHEN THERE IS LESS THAN 1/4" OF WAX LEFT IN THE GLASS

When the majority of the wax has been consumed, the flame will heat the container making the bottom of the jar hot. To prevent possible heat damage to your container and surface, stop burning after only 1/4" of your candle is left. When you are finished with your candle, try our guide to repurposing your candle vessel. If you are having trouble getting out the remainder of your wax, you can also reference our instructions on ways to remove candle wax.

CANDLE TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS & FAQS

WHY DO MY CANDLES SWEAT?

Don't sweat it. If you find liquid on the top of your candle wax, this just means the fragrance is sweating. This is due to the generous amount of fragrance we load in each of our candles, giving you a little extra love.

CANDLE WAX DISCOLORATION

If your wax isn't white, no worries. Our naturally derived ingredients in our formula can cause the candle to change colors with exposure to light or temperature change.

AIR BUBBLES IN THE CANDLE

If you find air bubbles in your candle, this is simply caused by surrounding temperature changes and will not affect your candle's lifespan or diffusion.

Who knew these little guys were so fragile?

WHY CANDLES TUNNEL?

If your candle is tunneling, this is due to the "memory ring." Your candle will remember where it left off and if the candle did not liquefy to the edge from the first burn, it will stay that way. If only everyone listened to us as our candles do.

There is a light at the end of the tunneling! An easy way to fix this is to give it a longer burn time your next go-around. Try burning a little longer than usual or enough for the pool to reach the edge.
