January … the start of a new year in our lives. Tradition tells us that resolutions need to be made. Do we need to lose weight? Stop smoking? Eat healthier? Well, for me it is all the above and then some.


It is also a time to reflect on the new year ahead and years gone by. It is also a time to look forward and try and figure out what the future may hold. What can I do different to make things better in my life as well as others. That alone can be a challenge for many of us.


Several people I know start to make lists, about now, on the things they want to accomplish over the next few months. Lists are good, I guess. I make lists about everyday for one project or another. The majority of those lists go by the wayside, some I put in a neat stack to refer to later, others I tape to my computer to remind me each day what I want and need to do.


All in all, this is the most common month for personal fresh starts. A fresh start at all those resolutions, a fresh start on handling our finances better, a fresh start on how we treat the people around us or encounter in our day to day routines. A fresh start on spending more time with family and loved ones. A fresh start to correct, or attempt to at best, relationships. A fresh start to be a better employee or business owner. A fresh start for anything that we feel needs that fresh start.


For me, those fresh starts need to be followed through on with extreme prejudice. I need to devote serious time and energy in those fresh starts I decide on. I need to make a list (LOL) and dwindle it down to the top one or two at most. Then take the next week or so and figure out a plan to accomplish these goals. The ones that I choose are most important. I am pretty sure I already have an idea as to what these are, but I will go through my list just to make sure.


There are also some business fresh starts that need attention as well. Fresh start in customer service, shipping a bit faster, being more consistent in our communications with our customers, as well as some other internal stuff. But to be honest, the business fresh starts are not nearly as important as the personal fresh starts.


We all have those things that need attention in our lives. I know I sure do. My goal this year is to do my very best to be a better friend, a better boyfriend, a better father, a better employer, and most of all, a all-around better person.


My hopes and prayers are that your fresh starts that are planted bloom bigger than you can ever imagine. I wish everyone of you a wonderful and prosperous New Year to come. I know that with a little hard work and support we can accomplish every one of our fresh starts.

WE’LL BE CLOSED FROM SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24TH, UNTIL WE RETURN ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 3RD, 2023.


As you may have seen, we’ll be closed from 12/24-1/2. We will not be answering customer emails or filling any orders until we return on January 3rd, 2023.

We know many questions will arise during our time away, so below, you will find answers to some common questions. We assure you that we will respond to your message once we return and ensure you are well looked after.


DID MY ORDER SHIP YET?

You will know we shipped your package when you receive an email from us with the subject “You Order Is Ready To Ship.” This contains your tracking number. If you didn’t receive this email:


Check your spam folder.

Send us an email at bob.evans@tallpinecandles.com using the email you used to place the order.


It’s possible that your order didn’t ship before we closed for the holidays. If that is the case, it will be our first priority when we return. If you require any changes, send us a note at bob.evans@tallpinecandles.com, and we’ll consider these before shipping in January.


MY ORDER SHIPPED BUT DIDN’T ARRIVE. WHAT NOW?

Going into these holidays, there is always a risk of shipping delays. If you are concerned about a delivery, please send us a note at bob.evans@tallpinecandles.com to highlight the issue. You can rest assured that we’ll take care of you once we return.


In the meantime, here are some common statuses and what they typically mean:


Stuck in Transit: Some packages are taking longer in transit than usual due to the holiday shipping rush. Generally, they will be delivered, but if a package is still showing as “In Transit” come January, we’ll take the issue up with USPS. We recommend signing up for tracking notifications on your shipment-tracking pages to be kept updated.


Delivered, Not Received: Some packages are scanned as delivered before they actually are. In many occurrences, the package is either delivered a day or two later OR was taken in by a neighbor, so keep an eye out and ask around. If you are still package-less come January, we will investigate with USPS on your behalf and let you know the next steps.


Returned to Sender: This generally means the address was incorrect or the recipient never claimed the package (if held at a post office). When we get back to the studio, we will check in with you to see if your package was returned, and we’ll send it out again (with corrected information if necessary).


WHAT IF I HAVE ANOTHER ISSUE WITH A SHIPMENT OR CANDLE?

We know that other things happen to our candles outside of our control. If you experience any issues, please let us know at bob.evans@tallpinecandles.com, and we will make sure to put things right when we return in January. We appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.

Have you ever wondered why wax melts are so popular? We’ll tell you a few reasons why people love them so much.


First of all, what are wax melts and where did they come from?


Wax melts are completely wick-less scented pieces of wax that are melted in a warmer. The warmer heats and melts the solid wax. As the wax melts, it fills up the area with scent. Melts are also referred to as wax tarts and wax cubes.


Wax melts were originated from candle makers looking for something to do with their left over wax after pouring candles. Pretty cool, right?


So why are wax melts all the rage?


1-WAX MELTS ARE FLAME-FREE


Decorative candles are pretty, but the exposed flame poses a risk for catching something else on fire by accident. While candles require flame, wax melts do not have a wick nor do they require a flame. Wax melts are warmed usually in an electric wax melt warmer containing a small 15-watt light bulb that is included at the base of the warmer. The light bulb is just enough heat to warm the wax melts, tarts, or cubes, releasing the scent in as little as 5 minutes!


2-WAX MELTS ARE EASY AND CONVENIENT


Wax melts and wax melt warmers are more acceptable to use in the workplace, apartments, and other places where traditional candles with flames could cause difficulty. Wax melting is also preferred by parents who are cautious of small children being around flames. Melts are convenient, because there is no requirement for matches or a lighter, and the wax melts themselves are compact and easy to transport. Our Melts come in small individual containers or variety packs making it perfect for travel or gift giving. Our melts are also made with 100% soy making any wax spills easy to clean with soap and water. Easy breezy!


3-MELTS ARE BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT


Did you know that glass is one of the longest-lasting man-made materials? It can take up to 1 million years for glass to decompose. As many as 28 billion glass containers are discarded in our nation’s landfills each year. One way to help preserve the environment is to use less glass. Wax melt warmers are extremely durable and last 4 to 6 years on average with proper care. If you opt for wax melt warmers instead of traditional candle jars, you could contribute to saving the environment huge amounts of garbage—fantastic!


4-YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR SCENT WITH WAX MELTS


You can manage the strength of your fragrance with wax melts because you can add more or less depending on your scent sensitivity or size of the room. For our Melts, for example, just cut each melt into 4 equal parts. Simply place a quarter melt into any wax warmer to rapidly fill the room with fragrance within minutes. You can add more for large open rooms. Once the warmer is turned off, the wax will harden. The wax can be re-melted for multiple uses until the scent has expired. To change the fragrance, pour out the melted wax, clean the warmer, and add the new wax.


5-WAX MELTING IS FUN!


Wax melting can be such a fun way to introduce kids to science! Let them watch the melt change from solid wax to liquid wax and then harden as it cools!


Wax melting can also be fun for adults. Wax melts are often used to blend into new aromas. For instance, if you have a Eucalyptus melt and a Sinus Relief wax melt, you may want to place one quarter of each into your warmer to create a great mint scent perfect for stuffy noses. Apple Oh and Vanilla would make a sweet apple pie a la mode. You can be very creative with melts, and fragrance intensity can often be managed. A little or a lot! It’s your choice. You’re the boss.


In the end, wax melts are long lasting, fun, relatively inexpensive, and also provide a safe way to enjoy great scents. They are a convenient choice when you want to control the amount of scent, experiment with blending scents, and fill your home with wonderful fragrances.
